Billions of dollars of cutting-edge research are conducted at leading universities around the nation and the world. Because almost all of the world’s venture capital happens to reside in a few places, however, most innovation never gets a fair shot at the commercial market. We help bridge that divide.

Government Matters.  We understand how venture capital and public policy interact. The venture capital industry has been built on public investments in research and commercialization in a regulatory framework that allows the formation of risk capital. We have a special skill set, that combines experience in mentoring hundreds of startups while also serving dozens of governmental clients over the years. We can leverage this understanding for the benefit of our companies and partners.

A Different Way of Early-Stage.  We find early-stage investments that are "a cut above" the rest. Some of our networks are based on one-of-a-kind programs with key federal agencies, universities, and governments. These are not just friendly relationships. These are hands-on, actively engaged mentoring programs that mentor hundreds of startups a year across the nation and the world. These startups typically rank in the top 5-10% of all technologies funded by competitive peer-reviewed programs, and we carefully select those that have the highest commercial potential. We give our companies the resources to succeed. We can invest alongside the top-tier funds in the world, and we have access to hundreds of major corporations and strategic partners.

We carefully select a handful of companies that we feel represent the cutting edge of technology and that have tremendous commercial potential. We prefer to work with technologies that have received the rigorous peer review of government research funds. Sometimes, we negotiate a way to serve as an extended member of your business team, sometimes as your interim CEO or other executive manager. We set out milestones to grow your business. We want to work with companies where our interests our mutually aligned.
